What Makes This Cough Syrup Effective
Lemons – are a great source of vitamin C which is extremely helpful in boosting the immune system and reduces cold and flu symptoms. Lemon also helps break down mucus so that you expel it more easily.
Ginger – contains a compound known as gingerol which helps heal the body, aid in immunity, and soothe inflammation in the chest, throat, and nose.
Honey – is a natural sore throat and cough remedy because it has anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory properties. When consumed, it lowers infection and swelling plus it creates a protective barrier in your throat lining.

- 2 yellow lemon (washed, dried & diced into small cubes)
- 2 tablespoons of ginger root (thinly sliced or grated)
Instructions
In a clean dry mason jar, add the lemons and sliced ginger and pour in the honey. Close the lid and store it in the fridge for 24 hours before using it.
How To Take This Lemon Cough Syrup
Always grab a clean spoon each time you want to use this cough syrup. You can take 1 spoonful directly by mouth or stir it into a hot cup of green or herbal tea 2 to 3 times per day. I also noticed that taking a spoonful before bedtime reduced my coughing a lot.
Storage
This lemon cough syrup should be kept in the fridge, even though both lemon and honey act as preservatives, I found that it has a longer shelf life when stored in the fridge. Also, don’t worry if the mixture looks thinner after sitting in the fridge, it’s because of the lemons.
