DIY Baking Soda Shampoo For Natural Hair Growth
Here is a powerful DIY Baking Soda Shampoo For Natural Hair Growth that you can make at home using a few natural ingredients you already have in your kitchen. If you have been looking for ways to grow your hair naturally, this recipe will help you get results quickly.
Please note that the following natural hair growth remedy can cause extremely dry hair for those who are experiencing dry hair. I recommend this remedy for people who have extreme buildup (accumulation of dirt, grease, or stuff) or for those who want to full color out of their hair.
I also recommend you use the vinegar hair wash after using the baking soda shampoo so that you get all of the baking soda out of your hair.
DIY Baking Soda Shampoo For Natural Hair Growth
Baking soda helps improve the quality of your hair and eliminates the residue of harsh chemicals. It also provides a long-lasting shine to your hair. Though this shampoo is foamless and may feel unnatural, it is very effective in removing oil buildup.
Note: To make sure that you are not allergic to baking soda, you may want to perform an easy at-home skin patch test before using the remedy above. Simply spray a few drops of your mixture on your inner arm and wait for 5 minutes. If you are in the clear and there is no allergic reaction, go ahead and use it on your scalp.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tablespoons of baking soda
- 9 Tablespoons of water
Preparation & Application
In a clean dry bottle with a spray cap, combine both ingredients and shake it very well to obtain an even mixture. Make sure to shake it before you use it every time. Depending on the length of your hair, you can increase the measurements.
Apply the mixture to wet hair from the roots upwards and leave it in for up to 4 minutes before washing it off with cold water. After using this remedy, you will need to apply an apple cider vinegar finish to it for the best results.
Apple Cide Vinegar Hair Wash
Because baking soda is alkaline, it opens up your hair cuticle which needs to be sealed. This is where an ACV rinse comes in. You do not want to skip this recipe after using the baking soda shampoo. The ACV rinse will help defrizz your hair, rebalance your scalp pH, help your scalp stay moisturized, and bring back shine to your hair.
You may also want to do a skin patch test before using the ACV rinse in your hair because it can cause skin irritation on certain skin types.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 12 Tablespoons of water
- 4 Drops of rosemary essential oil (optional)
Preparation & Application
Mix all of the ingredients into a bottle and shake well. Apply it to wet hair from roots up after using the baking soda remedy and leave it in for 2 minutes before washing it off with warm water. Repeat both remedies once per month to prevent unwanted side effects.
For people with extremely dry hair, you may want to apply a little bit of olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil to your hair after using these remedies.

How Does Baking Soda Grow Hair?
Using baking soda in your hair will help stimulate hair growth by keeping your hair and scalp clean. Environmental factors such as harsh chemicals, grease, dirt, and regular coloring, cause buildup and prevent healthy hair growth.
By using this remedy at least once per month, you will keep your hair and scalp clean enough so that your hair grows naturally.
Side Effects Of Using Baking Soda In Your Hair
Baking soda is harsh, it has a pH level of 8 which makes it alkaline, therefore, regular use can cause your hair to become brittle, frizzy, and dry. It also causes hair breakage, split ends, and leads to scalp irritation. To prevent unwanted effects, try limiting your use of baking soda to once per month or only when your hair needs a deep clean.
